Men's Basketball Season Outlook (2012-2013)
Coach Mike Touma begins his inaugural season with the Cougars with a solid core of returning players and a good mix of incoming freshmen and
transfers. The 2011-12 Cougars earned an at-large bid to the NCCAA National tournament where they finished sixth. Coach Touma is looking forward
to building on that success. Helping in that goal will be sophomore, Tristan Shore who earned South Region as well as All-American Honors last year;
he also received the Newcomers Award by CCSN. Tristan also led the team in scoring. Tristan will be joined by Erik McRae who is the only other starter
to return to this year's team. Erik led the team in assists, with 3.7 a game. Four other players will be returning off of last year's team. Forwards,
Colin DeHate and Devin Paularinne will be looked to for increased minutes and production from last year. Guard Brian Horrach and forward Russell Aldridge
will rejoin the team after both missing the spring semester.
For 2012-13, the Cougars have picked up an outstanding transfer player and a solid group of new true freshmen. 6'5 wing Grant Touma who played his freshman
year at Illinois Central College will primarily play the three spot but has versatility to play multiple positions. Among the talented freshmen are two
local players, 6'5 forward Austin Swierenga from Seminole High School in Seminole, and 5'10 guard David Cook from Chamberlin High School in Tampa.
The remainder of the roster of new players is 5'10 guard Trevor Palm, 6'2 guard Charles Brown, 6'4 forward Jonah Dew, 6'4 forward Bryan Torres, and 6'6 center
Coach Touma and the team are looking to pick up where the 2011-12 team left off last season. The goal of the team will be to use their God given
talents to bring glory and honor to Him and to further His kingdom through their pursuit of excellence.
