Head Baseball Coach
Joshua Rebandt (2nd season)
Coach Rebandt is entering his second season as the head coach at Clearwater Christian College.
CCC is coming off a nine win season, which ended at the NCCAA Regional tournament in Toccoa Falls last April. Rebandt picked up his first career coaching win on February 2, 2012 against Northwood University.
"My goal for this program is to see young men develop from the inside out, preparing them for the world beyond college, with Christ being at the center of it all. The game of baseball has many experiences that teach us about life, and it's a great opportunity to bond together as brothers in Christ."
On top of coaching at Clearwater, Josh spent the 2012 summer as a pitching coach for the Niagara Power, a summer collegiate baseball team in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. The Power use baseball as a ministry, spreading the Gospel to opponents, kids at camps, and churches through many unique outreach opportunities. Niagara won the western division in 2012, falling to the eastern division champions in the Championship series. Rebandt led a pitching staff that had the lowest ERA in the NYCBL, producing 3 NYCBL All Stars, 2 NYCBL 1st Team members, and the NYCBL Pitcher of the Year. Rebandt was an assistant coach for the Western Division in the 2012 NYCBL All Star Game.
Coach Rebandt prepped at Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He went on to play at Adrian College for one year before transferring to Clearwater for his final three years. He was a team captain at Clearwater all three seasons.
As a player, he has been part of a state championship runner up in 2005, an NCAA DIII College World Series team in 2008, a National American Semi Pro World Series Championship team where he was named the MVP in 2008, and an NCCAA DII College World Series team that lost in the national championship game in 2011.
Josh also serves as a Resident Director at Clearwater. He is the youngest of four children in his family. He has two older brothers, Adam and Jeff, and an older sister, Amy. His oldest brother Adam played professionally in Australia for one season. His parents Ralph and Carol Rebandt live in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Josh resides in Clearwater, Florida.
Assistant Baseball Coach
Jack Taylor (2nd season)
Coach Taylor is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Cougars. Jack has been coaching players of various ages for many years. He has a true passion for the Lord, the players, and the game of baseball.
Jack started his college baseball career at Pratt Community College in Kansas, playing second base. After his freshman season, he transferred to Enterprise State Community College in Alabama, and played second base there as well. After playing two years of junior college baseball, he finished up his career at Alice Lloyd College in Kentucky. He is working towards his degree in Human Services by taking online classes at Lexington Community College.
His coaching duties include recruiting, instruction with team defense, and coaching first base.
Coach Rebandt said, "We are happy to have Jack as a part of our program. His baseball experience and knowledge of the game will only help our program move forward. He understands how to develop players from the inside out, and will be a good leader for us both spiritually and athletically."
Jack resides in Dunedin, Florida.
Assistant Baseball Coach
Shelby Robertson (1st season)
Coach Robertson is in his first season as the pitching coach for Clearwater. Shelby attended Northeast Mississippi Community College, during his first two years of college, and earned his bachelor's degree in History with a minor in Education from Millsaps College.
While at Northeast Mississippi CC, he finished third highest in innings pitched with 56 1/3 innings, finishing with a 6-4 record during his sophomore campaign. The team also reached a national ranking as high as 9th in the DII NJCAA Coaches Poll.
At Millsaps College, Shelby earned a spot in the starting rotation for two years, on a team that spent time ranked #1 in the nation from the D3.com Coaches Poll, along with a #2 ranking from the American Baseball Coaches Association for six consecutive weeks.
Shelby played summer ball for the FCA Grays in the MINK Collegiate League after his freshman and sophomore years, and finished out his summer collegiate ball with the Niagara Power in the New York Collegiate Baseball League, a team that is associated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
After college in 2010, coach Robertson was picked up by the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League, an independent professional baseball team. He continued his professional baseball career in 2011 playing for the Arrows Ostrava in the Extraliga Czech, the highest level of professional baseball in the Czech Republic. He was the organization's player of the year, and led the league with 141 2/3 innings pitched, nine complete games, and twelve wins.
The following summer he continued his professional baseball experience in Europe, playing for the Soligen Alligators in the Bundesliga German, the highest level of professional baseball in Germany. He logged over 100 innings with a 9-8 record, and threw seven complete games.
His coaching experience includes Ridgeland High School, where he served as an assistant coach for the 5A state champion in Mississippi, and also coached the Junior 17u Soligen Alligators baseball team while he was in Germany.
Shelby's hometown is Madison, Mississippi, and currently resides in Clearwater, Florida.
Assistant Baseball Coach
Ethan Barba (1st season)
Coach Barba graduated from Clearwater Christian College in 2012 with a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine, and played four years for the Cougars. He served as a team captain during his senior season.
During his senior year, he batted .346 with three home runs, ten doubles, and one triple, along with twenty RBI's. He hit a career .285 and swiped thirty-four bases over four years. He spent time as a utility player, but spent the majority of his senior season at short stop. He earned NCCAA DII South Region 1st Team honors, along with the team's Best Offensive Award, both in his senior campaign.
Ethan's coaching responsibilities include instructing the outfielders, along with various administrative tasks.
Ethan resides in Clearwater, Florida.
