The two-year or Basic Course is open to most college students and does include required military service. The four-year or Advanced Course is designed to prepare the individual who desires to become a professional military officer in the Reserve, National Guard, or Active service.
Students participating in either program will be provided uniforms, books, and course materials free-of-charge. Students participating in the four-year or Advanced Course can qualify for two-year, three-year, and four-year scholarships that cover tuition, books, lab fees, and a stipend for other living expenses. Students completing the Advanced Course will be commissioned as an officer and be required to serve a minimum term in their service branch upon graduation.
Clearwater Christian College students register for ROTC courses through the College during normal course registration. All ROTC course instruction and leadership laboratories are conducted through the specific ROTC office at the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa.
Acceptance into ROTC and receipt of financial assistance are not automatic. Students desiring to enter ROTC with a four-year scholarship begin the process between their junior and senior years of high school. Each detachment has limited openings each year, specific minimum participation standards, and require separate applications. Funding for all scholarship levels is based on the changing needs of each military branch and monies they are awarded annually. Students are advised to contact the national ROTC organization they are interested in, the specific detachment at USF, and the admissions office of Clearwater Christian College for current information and needs.
In recognition of one's pursuit of this program, participating students from CCC have the option to declare a specific minor in ROTC which will appear on their official transcript. See
ROTC Minor for additional information.
