Pastoral Studies
Scripture tells us that he who desires the position of a pastor desires a good work. You have been sensing a call to ministry, not knowing
exactly what that might be. Many of your mentors and friends have been encouraging you to consider the pastorate because they have
seen your gifts and desire to serve God in this capacity. You know preparation is essential for effective ministry. The Pastoral
Studies major at Clearwater Christian will provide the necessary tools for entry-level pastoral positions, to meet the prerequisites
for further recommended seminary training, and to confirm God’s call in your life.
Why choose Pastoral Studies at Clearwater Christian?
-
Experienced faculty with extensive experience in the pastorate, on the mission field, as church planters, and as popular conference and
camp speakers
-
Committed faculty with a high view of Scripture pointing students to the living Christ
-
Lifelong friendships with faculty mentors and passionate classmates
-
Nondenominationally centered with commitment to serve the entire Body of Christ
-
Continually encouraged to answer the question "What does it mean to live out the gospel and to serve Christ in our day?"
Admissions Requirements
While there are no additional admissions requirements, those enrolling in the Pastoral Studies major are expected to maintain a minimum of a
C average in their ministry and Bible classes. Pastoral Studies majors are also expected to have a calling to serve in a local church,
to have a love for the Word of God and to desire to equip Christians to do the work of the ministry.
Unique Opportunities
Pastoral Studies majors enjoy opportunities to study abroad such as the 2008 trip to Greece, to participate annually in research excursions
to the Scriptorium at the Holy Land Experience, and to view missions firsthand through annual overseas trips. On-campus seminary
recruitment days each fall provide regular opportunities to investigate future continued educational training beyond the
undergraduate experience. Recent department-driven Islamic community outreach allows hands-on experience with individuals from
different cultures.
