History of the College
Under the leadership and direction of founding president Arthur E. Steele, the possibility of a Christian liberal arts college on the west coast of
Florida became reality in January, 1966. The College acquired 50 waterfront acres at the eastern entrance to the city of Clearwater, and
began construction early in April of that year. On Sept. 17, 1966, the College opened with 15 students. God providentially supplied funds, friends,
faculty and facilities, as well as a promising student body, and that same great enthusiasm and sense of expectancy during that first year continues today.
